I use Notepad on my work computer daily. I never save any documents, but it is handy for a quick copy/paste of info I need for a short period of time. We aren’t allowed to install anything on the computers, so it’s what is available.

I could live without it, but I do find it marginally useful, basically as digital “scrap paper”.

Those people that don’t know options exist are also people that don’t care about or know about support life for something like the OS - they just see it as what the computer comes with. Most of them probably wouldn’t have upgraded from 7 to 10 without it just doing it itself. A lot of them will just keep using 10 well past the end of support.

Also, I really enjoyed Railcar’s subversion of expectations with all that lead up to what we all assumed was a Linux recommendation to end up being pirated windows. That got a chuckle out of me. I feel like the haters didn’t get the joke.

Windows 10 on day 1 was still ‘calling home’ and recommending candy crush in the start menu as I recall. I had to dig into the registry to gut the windows store from it entirely to get windows 10 to act how i want an OS to act. Windows 7 was the last good windows IMO.

I’m in the final stages of building a rat rig v-core 4 and it is a beast of a machine. They have an idex addon kit for 2 tool heads, and plans in the works for a multi-material addon as well.

This is exactly how we know that they are actively trying to exclude Linux users and it never has been “too much development effort with too little market share”. They won’t tick the check box in EAC to allow use in Linux. They actively aim to exclude the open-source community because they are big corporations and would rather a different big corporation hold some of the power they don’t have yet instead of the “consumer”.

No one decided cheating in multiplayer games is fine. But invasive anti-cheat software is significantly worse, and frankly doesn’t actually work. Automated detection tools can help, but ultimately you need mods / admins to properly stay on top of cheating. Trying to replace those jobs with incredibly invasive software installed on every user’s device is just a sign of a trash developer or publisher.

Printed a sun visor extension out of PLA in my early days of printing. Had to run out to my car at like noon to grab something and it was deformed and droopy and could be reshaped as easily as a piece of leather… I learned a lesson that day, lol.

I printed a test piece (something much smaller) out of PETG to see if that would handle it. It would not, also got soft and sloppy after a couple of hours in the car.

Get whatever printer fits your budget and needs. You don’t have to have a prusa printer to use prusa slicer, and even if you don’t want to use prusa slicer; Cura, super slicer, and orca slicer all work on Linux natively as well. You shouldn’t have a problem with slicing software at all.

Also, as a tip, whatever printer you buy probably comes with an installer for a proprietary fork of (an old version of) one of the main slicers. Skip it. Go download Cura or prusa slicer and there will likely be profiles available during initial setup for your exact printer. Definitely if you stick to the bigger, well-known brands.

I’m convinced that this is definitely the end goal for Microsoft, especially with the windows 11 TPM requirement. We are in the early stages of their plan to mold the PC ecosystem to be more like mobile. This is the biggest reason I decided to move to Linux - it’s now or never in my opinion.

Not an expert but I’ve been very happy with my synology wifi router, plenty of range for my house. I’ve had good luck in the past with ubiquiti access points for an application that needs to cover more square footage.

I’m curious, could you skip a a DE and window manager and still run full screen graphical applications like games? Run it really like the DOS days when you just changed to the correct directory and ran the executable and then doom launches…?

lol wat? I don’t know of a single local establishment that accepts Monero (or any other crypto) as payment (not saying it doesn’t exist, but it if so they are exceedingly rare). Seems pretty restricted to me. They also don’t seem to accept caps, eddies, gold, or spetims oddly enough.
